Tudor: Diane de Poitiers by HC-IIIX Tudor: Diane de Poitiers by HC-IIIX
I meant to use both of Diane's color motifs here (Black and White) but ended up with black blue, and silver accents (since for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to make monochrome look good in this game XD. In any case, here is my portrayal of Diane de Poitiers, mistress to Henri II of France and a queen in all but name. I used her actual portraits as a reference, though originally her hair was much darker (because the first one I used seemed to have her with brown hair, but she was also described as fair-haired...which is blonde. I am confused @_@)

And while my admiration for this woman is growing by the day, I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that she may have been History's First Cougar.

When it comes to many historical portraits artists tended to embellish to make their subjects look more fashionable for their times. Hence a portrait of Anne Boleyn as an auburn-haired, pale-skinned woman when she actually had jet-black hair and eyes with a more off-white creamy golden complexion. Diane de Poitiers contemporaries put her hair anywhere from Dark Blond to red-gold. The general consensus on her eyes, (also misrepresented in portraits) was that they were an aquamarine shade. But historical accuracy aside, this is a great doll. I like the liberties here, and she did use color extensively in her wardrobe before her husband died.
